How to Use This Book
This book is arranged as a 15-chapter student textbook for Decision Making for Management. Each chapter supports one three-hour teaching and learning session.
Each chapter follows the same study route:
- Start with the decision question.
- Read the conceptual foundation before opening any software.
- Follow the worked examples.
- Run the analysis yourself, in JASP or in PocketStat. Either is acceptable, and the Software Guide explains both.
- Complete the Try It tasks during reading.
- Complete the collaborative exercise during class.
- Use the reporting template to write the result in management language.
- Complete the practice and homework tasks after class.
- Check the selected solutions after attempting the questions.
The book intentionally separates the dataset from the concept explanation. The dataset is used for practice, but the concepts are explained broadly so that you can apply them to other business decision problems.
Choosing your software route
You are not required to install anything. JASP is a free download and PocketStat runs in your browser with no installation at all. Pick whichever suits the machine you have, and say which one you used when you report a result. The Software Guide sets out what each covers.
Reporting standard
A good answer in this module should state the question, identify the evidence, justify the method, report the result, explain the management meaning, state a limitation, and make a practical recommendation.
