Sources and alignment
The statistical explanations are aligned with the open business statistics textbook model used in the course source pack, especially the emphasis on definitions, formulas, worked examples, practice tasks, and business interpretation (Holmes, Illowsky, and Dean 2023).
Source files used for course alignment include the module handbook, assignment brief, student manual, instructor manual, DMM map, generated datasets, and the DMM master script (Qasim Ibrahim School of Business 2026b, 2026a).
Software attribution
This book teaches through two statistical environments, and both are free to use.
JASP is an open-source statistical package developed at the University of Amsterdam. It provides the menu-driven analyses used in most chapter walkthroughs.
PocketStat is a browser-based statistics tool that runs entirely in the reader’s own browser. It needs no installation, no licence, no account, and it keeps your data on your own machine. It runs throughout this book as a parallel route to the same analyses, so every activity stays open to a student working on a shared or borrowed machine.
Selected analyses are also shown in R, as a reproducible companion for readers who want to verify a calculation or build stronger research skills.
